How well do laminate floors hold up with dogs compared to wood floors

Captain , Sunday, 8th of August 2010 10:07:38 PM

l wanna put laminate or real bamboo floors in our kitchen.Laminate is
Captain
easier to install, but I am concerned the finish will be scratched up by

the dog, same concern with the real bamboo, too.
The dog is about 50

pounds; he does not dig or abuse the floors, but the back door and his food

bowl are in there so he is in the kitchen quite often.

has dogs and wood/laminate floors, I'd like to hear your experience with
them.
Thanks.
l care more about the dog (who is extremely well
trained BTW) than having wood floors. And l wo not be shutting him out of
the kitchen, hence my question being ''how will the floor hold up?'' as
opposed to ''what should l do with my dog?''
Thank you.

Vinyl is better then you won`t have to worry. Wood is high

maintenance. Laminate is new into the market so anything goes=I`d worry

I think neither laminate floors nor harwood floors are a good

option for the kitchen. Unless you never use water in the kitchen. I think

using ceramic tiles is a far better solution. You will clean it in no time.

I would go with the laminent. It is cheaper than wood flooring
KARABOO
and will hold up longer. Just have the dog declawed. Presto..no scratches.

We just had new wood floors put in last week. We installed a

pre finished engineered wood floor ( plywood flooring with a finished

so good, it is the DuPont real touch elite. Hope this helps, good luck

I have laminate floors and a dog (about 40lbs) the floors are
