How well do laminate floors hold up with dogs compared to wood floors
l wanna put laminate or real bamboo floors in our kitchen.Laminate is
easier to install, but I am concerned the finish will be scratched up by
the dog, same concern with the real bamboo, too. The dog is about 50
pounds; he does not dig or abuse the floors, but the back door and his food
bowl are in there so he is in the kitchen quite often. Of anyone here
has dogs and wood/laminate floors, I'd like to hear your experience with
them. Thanks. l care more about the dog (who is extremely well trained BTW) than having wood floors. And l wo not be shutting him out of the kitchen, hence my question being ''how will the floor hold up?'' as opposed to ''what should l do with my dog?'' Thank you.
Vinyl is better then you won`t have to worry. Wood is high
maintenance. Laminate is new into the market so anything goes=I`d worry
about the unknown.
I think neither laminate floors nor harwood floors are a good
option for the kitchen. Unless you never use water in the kitchen. I think
using ceramic tiles is a far better solution. You will clean it in no time.
I will go with a matte finish, not a glazed one unless you want to see your
dog skating :)
Let us know what you decide.
I just had laminate floors put in my living room and kitchen.
Like you, my dogs' food and water is in the kitchen and she has to go
outside through the kitchen. She is a 100 pound golden retriever and she
has not put a single scratch on the flooring.
I would go with the laminent. It is cheaper than wood flooring
and will hold up longer. Just have the dog declawed. Presto..no scratches.
We just had new wood floors put in last week. We installed a
pre finished engineered wood floor ( plywood flooring with a finished
veneer) & our 20 lb hyper rat terrier is causing the flooring to have
indention is in it. Not really scratches, just marks in the finish where
he runs & slides around. We also had ceramic tile installed in the
bedrooms & hall, love it, & I will probably wish later I'd went with tile
throughout. I've got laminate flooring in the bathroom upstairs & so far so good, it is the DuPont real touch elite. Hope this helps, good luck
I have laminate floors and a dog (about 40lbs) the floors are
fine and the dog runs around like crazy. The only problem would be if he
wets the floor. liquid must be cleaned immediatly to keep from getting
into the panels and causing damage. Fortunatly my dog never went in the
house.
Put down the floor you like, but teach your pet to eat
elsewhere, thats what I did. He did not like it for awhile but got over
it.
Our cats scratched the heck out of our laminate floor! They use
it for high speed U-turns!!
dogs are filthy and disgusting, they destroy everything, get
rid of the dogs moron
