Is it possible to lay wood over carpet to put a laminate flooring
l rent and the carpet stains, I'd like to purchase laminate wood flooring.
Is there a product to cover the carpet to make this possible?
How old are the stains? Is it juice stains?
When I clean my carpets, I rent a Rug Doctor and I buy Javex2 colour safe
bleach. I have saved my Landlords a few thousand dollars in carpet
replacement in their multiple buildings. I use about 2 tea spoons of
Javex2 with hot water every time I fill up the machine.
The only stains that I can not seem to get all the way out are either wax from a candle or juice stains, but even the wax comes out sometimes. Good luck
No way. Talk to your landlord and see if he will split the
cost with you - maybe you could buy the laminate flooring and he could
have it installed.
Rugs of any and all types are a much more practical idea than a
temporary installation of laminate flooring.
Is the carpet glued to the floor?
If it isn't, then pull it up - you may be surprised to find a wood floor
under it (like we did in our home.)
Since you will be paying mucho bucks $$$ for laminate or wood to put on
the floor, I'd ask the professional advice of the business you're purchasing from. Hopefully, the Sales-person will take it as the ''serious question'' you obviously have and not look too surprised.
Since you're renting, how about getting some throw rugs to put
in high-traffic areas.
It is very easy to remove the old carpet and prepare the
subfloor. I recently did my 500sq.ft front room. It took me approx. 1
Hr. to remove the old carpet and padding. However, I had to clean and
prepare the subfloor before laying out the laminate.
Laminate flooring comes either glue down or click lock which
''floats'' on the floor and needs no gluing.
Both products require a solid surface such as a wood or concrete flooring
and won't work over carpeting.
I suppose it is possible, but why would you want to.
If the carpet should get wet or moist, then mold and mildew could result,
and that would ruin the laminate from underneath.
No! Too much motion.
