Installing a gas fireplace on top of laminate wood flooring

We wanna install a gas fireplace in our living room.The floor is laminate

wood flooring and we are concerned that the heat from the unit will warp,

discolour or damage the floor either directly infront of the fireplace or

anywhere in the room.Does anyone have any experience with this?The

manufacturer says laminate flooring shouldnt' be exposed to heat over 84

degrees, which obviously the fireplace would surpass.Please give us advice

Most gas fireplaces can be installed directly on combustible

flooring, including laminate wood. Each particular model has it is own

requirements for a ''hearth'' in front of the unit so make sure and read

the manual for specifics. If you want to go the extra mile go ahead and

set the unit on top of some concrete board (Hardy Backer or Durorock)

I built my own fireplace once and the main thing is the hearth,

this will protect your flooring, I used south African slate and it looked
